Come and join us for the 41st Running of The Great Cumbrian Run, The Cumbrian Run 10K or one of the Family Fun Runs on Sunday 5th October 2025

Run like you've never run before in Cumbria's Greatest Half Marathon or The Cumbrian Run 10K. Whether it’s your first time tackling either distance, or you’re a seasoned veteran - we can't wait to see you on the start line!

Better operate over 250 leisure centres across the UK and Ireland. We are a Social Enterprise and a not-for-profit charitable trust which simply means that our profits are put back into the facilities we run and the local community - Because you run, local children can enjoy school holiday activities. Sport in Action is a well established events company that run events in and around Carlisle. Founded in 2012 their mission is to provide high quality events with athletes at the heart of their work, ensuring safety, integrity and respect for all at every event. Solway Coast Marathon, Carlisle Resolution Run, Castle 5K Series and The Carlisle Santa Dash for Jigsaw childrens hospital are just some of Sport in Actions anuual races ran in and around Carlisle.

Race Start Time - 09:00 at Mayors Drive next to the tennis courts.

Registration -  Race Numbers etc can be collected when registering. Registration will be over several days in the week of the race including race morning. More infomation to follow soon.

Great Cumbrian Family Fun Runs

This run is strictly for fun and it’s all about relaxed exercise, accomplishing personal goals, raising money for a worthwhile cause, and having a laugh in the process. No pressure, no sweat – just some easy moves and lots of laughs. The run is suitable for all the family.

It isn’t about Olympic level athletes aiming for a record time. It’s about mums with prams, dads with toddlers, groups running together, fancy dress, kid’s getting active but most importantly raising money for a well-deserved local cause of your choice.

Family Fun Run 1 - Start Time Approx 09:05. Access to all, not a timed run. Approx 1 mile includes a bespoke medal. Run 1 Will Start straight after Run 2 and head though Bitts Park to the Sheepmount Stadium finishing with with 350mtrs on the track.

Family Fun Run 2 -  Start Time approx 09:00. 11 plus approx 3.1 mile. Still a family fun run but we will include chip timing for those that wish to be a bit competitive. Includes chip timing and a bespoke medal. Run 2 Will start with the Great Cumbrian Run for the ones that would like to make a race of it everyone else will start at the back of the Great Cumbrian Run. You will follow the The Great Cumbrian Run route for 3.1 miles before turning into the Sheepmount Stadium finishing with 30mtrs on the track.
